What needs to be clarified
Assess whether sequence can be determined, trace cracks within each glass layer and check their termination relationships against preservation and original pane orientation.
Materials to prepare
- Pane with fragments held in position and sides identified
- Pre-removal photographs and damage-zone diagram
- Packing/transport records and subsequent cracking information
What to compare
Record glass type, layers and interlayer condition; map damage under suitable lighting. Examine intersections layer by layer, checking actual termination. Consider secondary fractures, obscured areas and mounting effects; rely on a consistent set of features rather than one intersection.
Possible outcome of the analysis
Layer-specific crack maps may support an impact sequence or explain why it cannot be determined; some damage pairs may remain incomparable where relevant features are missing.
Limits of the conclusions
Ordinary-glass direction rules cannot automatically transfer to laminated glass. Examination identifies no person, exact time or implement; displaced fragments limit sequence conclusions.
